The festivities combine deep religious traditions with exuberant communal celebrations.

The festivities often begin on the eve of the holiday (August 14) with solemn vespers and processions in the local churches, centering on the icon of the Panagia (Virgin Mary).

On the main day (August 15), locals and visitors gather in the village square and at the tavernas.
